This presentation will benefit a variety of professionals who are supervising new professionals and/or those working with children, specifically school counselors and child and adolescent counselors. This is an advanced presentation that would be most beneficial for supervisors, doctoral students and play therapists and students who are already familiar with basic tenets of supervision models.

Participants will explore numerous techniques designed to bring creativity to supervision, deepen supervisee self-awareness and address supervision issues

Participants will identify 1-2 techniques that will support their current supervisee caseloads and how to integrate into practice

Participants will learn the functions of supervision along with modalities for feedback and formats for delivering supervision.
Presenter Bios:
Casey E. Baker, EdD, LMHC, RPT-S, is core faculty in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Capella University. Dr. Baker is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Minnesota and a licensed mental health counselor in Iowa. She is also a registered play therapist supervisor and a nationally certified counselor. She has experience working clinically, serving children, families, couples, and adults with a variety of mental health diagnoses at college campuses, in-home Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports, and outpatient mental health services. Dr. Baker is a member of the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association and the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
Lynn M. O'Brien, EdD, LPCC-S, LMHC, RPT-S, is core faculty in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Capella University. Dr. O'Brien is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of MN, Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of WI, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of IA, as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). As a Registered Play Therapist, Dr. O'Brien serves children through the use of play in the therapeutic setting. Dr. O'Brien also works with teens, adults, couples, and families. She enjoys learning about the professional development of counselors and has presented on creative ways to engage in supervision. Dr. O'Brien is a member of the Minnesota Counseling Association, the Association for Creativity in Counseling, and the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
