Presenter: Julie Vogel is a Professional Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has worked in the community actively since 1990 and has had many different roles during that time. She began as an Elementary School Teacher in the inner city of Milwaukee and then went on to become a Community Organizer. While working as an Intensive Case Manager in Sayville, NY she received her Masters in Mental Health Counseling. She briefly became the Regional Director of an Adoption Agency, later continued with case management, and ran a drop-in center for adults with chronic and severe mental illness. After moving to the state of Tennessee she worked as an adult facilitator of an Intensive Outpatient Treatment program for adults with drug and alcohol issues. Later working as a therapist in a Community Mental Health Agency and then went into private practice. She has had her license since 2008 and is now supervising those who wish to attain their state license. She has worked with a variety of populations including populations in both rural and urban settings. Julie prides herself on being an advocate for those who appear to have no voice in our society whether it is due to mental illness, economics, race, or culture. Her overall personal philosophy comes from a place of strength and optimism. She believes all individuals have the capacity to create for themselves a meaningful and fulfilling life, whatever they consider that to be. Currently, Dr. Vogel is working at South University in West Palm Beach. She is full-time faculty in the clinical mental health counseling program.
