Presenter: Dr. Jess Del Re (she/her) is a clinical assistant faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Marquette University. Her research is centered on cultural competence and cultural humility practices, clinical supervision, and inclusive educational practices. She predominately uses qualitative research methodologies to learn about the individual experiences of counselors and clients. She resides in Northwest Indiana with her husband, son, and two dogs.

Description and Learning Objectives:

Supervision aims to protect clients and continue the development of supervisees (ACA, 2015; Bernard & Goodyear, 2019). As such, supervisors are tasked with monitoring and advancing their supervisee’s skills and abilities (Bernard & Goodyear, 2019). With clinical mental health and school counselors serving an increasingly diverse client population (McKnight-Eily et al., 2021; Jones et al., 2021), there is an emphasis on providing multiculturally competent and humble services (Fernandes & Lane, 2020; Fietzer et al., 2018; Matthews et al., 2018; Young, 2017), which begins with supervision. Throughout the webinar, participants will learn about emerging supervision research and how cultural humility and cultural competence may deepen the supervisory relationship. Additionally, participants will leave with strategies and interventions that can be infused into supervision to best engage with their supervisees.

· Participants will receive an introductory understanding and application of cultural humility and cultural competence.

· Participants will learn how cultural humility and cultural competence principles may deepen the supervisory relationship.

· Participants will learn strategies and interventions to infuse cultural humility and cultural competence into supervision with school and clinical trainees informed by empirical evidence.
